Introduction

Complete NUST Islamabad admission guide covering degree programs, 2026–27 fees, NET, SAT or ACT routes, eligibility and scholarships.

The National University of Sciences and Technology, commonly known as NUST, is one of Pakistan's most competitive choices for engineering, computing, natural sciences, applied sciences, architecture, business and social sciences. Its Islamabad H-12 campus is the main academic centre, while the university also operates specialised schools and campuses in other locations. Students should apply to a specific school and programme rather than treating NUST as one identical course across all campuses.

Popular degree areas at NUST

NUST offers undergraduate routes in engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, software engineering, electrical and mechanical engineering, architecture, business, economics, social sciences, biotechnology and other applied fields. The right programme depends on the student's intermediate subject combination. Engineering and computing applicants should read the programme-level academic qualification page carefully because mathematics, physics, chemistry and computer studies combinations can affect eligibility.

NUST fee structure for 2026–27

The official national-student fee page lists an admission processing fee of PKR 35,000 and a refundable security deposit of PKR 10,000. For engineering, computing, natural sciences, applied sciences and HND programmes, the listed tuition is PKR 216,750 per semester and miscellaneous charges are PKR 5,000 per semester. For architecture, social sciences and business studies, the listed tuition is PKR 302,950 per semester, also with PKR 5,000 in miscellaneous charges. This makes the approximate first-semester headline total PKR 266,750 for the first group and PKR 352,950 for the second, before hostel, transport or other programme-specific costs.

NUST notes that fees are subject to revision. Business students may also have an annual Harvard Business School licensing charge where applicable. Course repeats, summer courses, hostel, mess and other services are separate considerations, so the invoice issued with the provisional selection letter should be treated as the final payable figure.

Eligibility and entry tests

The normal undergraduate route is based on the required HSSC or equivalent qualification and the NUST Entry Test, commonly called NET. NUST also provides specific ACT or SAT-based seats for eligible national and international applicants. O-Level and A-Level candidates should arrange IBCC equivalence and meet the required subject combination before the deadline. A result-awaiting applicant may be admitted provisionally only under the conditions stated by the university.

How to improve your chances

Prepare mathematics, physics, chemistry, English and intelligence topics according to the selected NET category. Use the official test pattern, practise timed questions and apply to more than one relevant programme if the policy permits. Strong board marks help, but competitive programmes also require serious entry-test preparation. Keep CNIC or B-Form, photographs, academic certificates, equivalence documents and test details ready for the online application.

NUST students can also explore need-based financial aid and other support options. Financial planning should begin before the merit list because the first invoice normally includes admission charges, security and the first semester's dues. A realistic budget and an early scholarship application can prevent avoidable pressure after selection.

Important: Rankings, deadlines, eligibility rules, tuition, taxes, hostel charges and scholarships can change. Always confirm the latest notice and fee voucher on the university's official website before applying or paying.
