Introduction
A practical FAST-NUCES guide covering computing degrees, 2026 fee per credit hour, entry tests, eligibility, merit and financial aid.
The National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, commonly called FAST-NUCES, is a popular choice for computer science, software engineering, artificial intelligence, data-related fields, electrical engineering and business. Its reputation is closely associated with a demanding academic workload and strong technical preparation. Students should choose FAST because the curriculum and learning pace fit their goals, not only because of its name.

Programs and campus choice
FAST offers computing and engineering programmes across its campuses, with programme availability varying by location. BS Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cyber Security, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering and business programmes are among the areas students commonly compare. Always check the campus-specific programme list and accreditation information before submitting an application.
FAST fee structure from Fall 2026
FAST's official Fall 2026 admissions FAQ lists tuition at PKR 12,000 per credit hour for the relevant undergraduate and other listed programmes. The university does not use one fixed semester fee: a student taking 15 credit hours would have PKR 180,000 in tuition before the student activity fund and other charges. The published admission information also lists a PKR 30,000 admission fee, a refundable PKR 20,000 security deposit and a PKR 2,500 student activity fund per semester.
This means a new student with a 15-credit load should budget at least the tuition, activity fund, admission charge and security deposit together, before hostel, transport, books, laptop and other costs. FAST says fees may be paid in instalments subject to campus approval, and it provides need-based aid, interest-free loans and merit scholarships for eligible students.
Eligibility and accepted tests
For engineering programmes, FAST's eligibility page lists at least 60% in SSC or equivalent and at least 60% in HSSC or equivalent, with the required Pre-Engineering or ICS subject combination. Accepted undergraduate test routes include the FAST-NUCES admission test, SAT or NTS NAT, with the applicant choosing the permitted option for the programme and intake. Merit combines academic record and admission-test performance under the university's policy.
Preparation advice
The FAST test route requires disciplined practice in mathematics, analytical reasoning, English and, where relevant, physics or computer-related topics. Review the official admission schedule, apply online, pay the processing fee correctly and download the admit card. Students waiting for results must still meet the final eligibility condition; a provisional application does not remove the requirement to pass the qualifying examination.
FAST can be an excellent fit for a student who enjoys problem solving, programming and regular assessment. Before accepting an offer, compare the campus commute, hostel availability, total budget and workload with alternatives such as NUST, LUMS or COMSATS.
Important: Rankings, deadlines, eligibility rules, tuition, taxes, hostel charges and scholarships can change. Always confirm the latest notice and fee voucher on the university's official website before applying or paying.
