2027 application opening and last date
QUT’s annual scholarship round opens on 1 April each year. For international applicants, the published closing time is 11:59 PM Australian Eastern Standard Time on 31 July each year. The 2027 annual round should therefore be prepared for 1 April to 31 July 2027. QUT says outcomes are emailed from 21 November and successful scholarships start between January and July following the round, subject to admission and commencement.
Who can apply?
- International applicants who meet QUT admission criteria for a research degree.
- Applicants for an MPhil or PhD with a strong research record and a suitable research proposal.
- Applicants who meet QUT’s English-language requirements by the scholarship submission stage.
- Students who can enrol full time and internally unless QUT approves another arrangement.
- Applicants who are not receiving another living-allowance scholarship for the same research degree.
Benefits
From 1 January 2027, QUT lists an annual full-time stipend of AUD 38,310, paid fortnightly and indexed annually. The QUTPRA can run for up to 3.5 years for a PhD or 1.75 years for a research Master’s, subject to the rules. International students may receive tuition-fee sponsorship and single Overseas Student Health Cover if eligible. The RTP Stipend also provides an annual stipend and an Australian Government Research Training Program Fees Offset.
